The feeling of nausea is the worst feeling ever, because you feel a pressure in your stomach that makes you vomit. It can be triggered by a virus, a digestive disorder, pregnancy, or an unpleasant smell.
1. Stand up and avoid bending the stomach
If your mother ever told you not to sleep after you ate, she was right. When you stretch, gastric juices have a higher level and can increase the feeling of nausea and general discomfort, especially if you have acid reflux. Bending the stomach can also aggravate the feeling of nausea, as the problem area is compressed. Try to relax, hold the upper body up and move as little as possible.
2. Open a window or stand in front of a fan
There is a reason why people who have carsickness stay with the window open. Fresh air relieves symptoms of nausea, although it is not yet clear why. It may be about removing unpleasant smells or about helping you focus on something else.
Try to stay in front of a fan or fresh air at the first sign of nausea, especially if you have nausea accompanied by hot flashes.
3. Apply a cold compress
A cold compression placed on the back of the neck can help you to get rid of nausea. When nausea installs your body temperature increases. And when you put a cold compress on your neck for a few minutes, you help your body temperature to drop.
4. Apply pressure
This is a medical alternative where you can apply pressure to specific body parts to relieve symptoms. The pressure point for nausea is the inside of the wrist, between two large tendons. To relieve nausea, apply pressure at this point in a circular motion for a few minutes.
5. Drink chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is a popular remedy for nausea. It has a sedative effect that can help you sleep when you suffer from nausea. It can also improve your anxiety. When you’re sick, make a cup of chamomile tea and wait for it to take effect.
